There is a campground at the base of the mountain that allows access to a paved trail to the cave that is about 1 1/2 miles long and climbs about 1,065 feet. The limestone cavern is noted for helictites , water-created formations that grow in all directions and shapes.
Camp Floyd State Park is another popular attraction in Utah County. Reigning as the military post with the largest troop concentration in the United States from 1858 to 1861. There were over 3,000 troops that occupied more than 300 buildings. The troops assigned to Camp Floyd were to suppress an assumed Mormon rebellion. The troops returned East in 1861 for Civil War duty. The only evidence today are a cemetery and commissary building remain. The nearby Stagecoach Inn has been restored and looks as it did back in the late 1800s, when it was used a stop on the Pony Express. The museum hours are 9 am to 5 pm. It is open 7 days a week during main season and closed Sundays from October 15 through March 31.
